CHETUMAL, MX.- Starting at midnight this Saturday, March 21, the government of Belize will close its northern border, which borders Mexico, through the State of Quintana Roo, to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, since so far remains free of this disease.
Through a statement, and at the end of the second meeting of the National Committee for Health Oversight, measures were agreed to protect the health of Belizean citizens and reduce the threat of transmission of COVID-19 in Belize, taking into account the behavior that has been held at international and regional borders.
The committee determines that as of midnight on Saturday, March 21, the northern border of Belize will be closed and only cargo trucks will be allowed to transit, in addition to which only Belizean citizens, residents and diplomats residing in Belize, will be able to enter to the country, but will be subject to inspection and possible quarantine for 14 days.
