Carmen beach. - A convicted Colombian, identified as Juan Carlos Marín Cardona, was arrested here by federal police in response to a request from the United States government, as the South American escaped from a Texas state jail, Federal Police said.

Federal Police (PF) elements arrested Juan Carlos Marín Cardona in Quintana Roo, a Colombian who mocked the security of a US prison accused of crimes against health.
After receiving a report from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency (ICE) that Marín Cardona had entered Mexican territory on March 15, the Federal Police began search operations.
The Colombian arrived in Mexico on a flight from Paris and was located in Playa del Carmen, so it was deployed the search operation in hotels, airports, bus stations, hospitals and public places in the area.
He was arrested when he was traveling along Constituyentes Avenue, Solidaridad municipality, when approached provided the name of Alexander King Marín Cardona to evade the authorities.
After being detained, he was notified that he was required by Texas authorities "to be involved in health crimes and to have escaped from a United States federal prison."
"The subject was transferred to the facilities of the International Airport of Cancun, Quintana Roo, where he was placed at the disposal of the National Institute of Migration, an instance that will follow up on his legal and immigration process," said the PF.
His detention was "a result of the cooperation and information exchange agreements between the Government of Mexico and the United States, the National Security Commission, through the Federal Police," the agency added.
