The governor of Quintana Roo, Carlos Joaquín González confirmed that an arrest warrant had been issued against Roberto Borge, accused of money laundering, illicit enrichment and acquisition with undervalued lands.

Mexico City, June 4 (SinEmbargo). - Former governor of Quintana Roo, Roberto Borge Angulo (2011-2016), was arrested in Panama when he was about to board an airplane.
Borge, a man described by the president Enrique Peña Nieto as "the new generation of the PRI", arrived at the gubernatura by the Institutional Revolutionary.
The arrest comes just on the night of controversial elections in Mexico, when the PRI has declared itself a winner in the State of Mexico and opposition parties demand a "state election."

Today, Javier Duarte de Ochoa, who has spent more than 180 days at large, is in a maximum security prison in Guatemala for crimes of illicit enrichment, organized crime and money laundering, all committed in Mexico.

Borge Angulo is accused of at least six crimes committed during his administration. Four complaints have been filed in the Attorney General's Office (PGR) and two in the Attorney General's Office (FGE).

The former president is credited with the ecocide committed in the Tajamar mangrove in Cancun for approving a real estate project that affected at least 57 hectares and which, thanks to the intervention of activists, was suspended.
Throughout his administration, Roberto Borge, who until last April had more than 200 escorts, sold 9,500 hectares of the Quintana Roo reserve.
