CANCÚN,
MX. - The modifications to the Police and Good Government Branch of Benito
Juárez (Cancún) come into force, in which economic sanctions and arrests of up
to 36 hours will be applied to those who do not comply with sanitary measures
such as the use of mouth masks in public spaces and keep the healthy distance.
This was
announced by the secretary of the City Council, Issac Janix, who assured:
"Fortunately,
9 out of 10 approve these measures because we all have the same objective,
which is to recover economically and avoid more infections, and they are
focused on that, and for this reason, 9 out of 10 people have accepted it and
see it with good eyes."
He
recognized that it is difficult to "avoid second peaks" of the
disease, but that collaboration between citizens and authorities to contain
these outbreaks can help prevent "a return to total confinement that
nobody wants"
This was
said after the publication in the Official Newspaper of the State of Quintana
Roo, where the agreement approved by the Cabildo on July 16 is disclosed, in
which it gives municipal powers for arrests and sanctions based on
modifications made in section XII of article 537 of that regulation.
Likewise,
the municipal authorities may impose a fine of 10 to 40 Units of Measure and Update
(UMA), which ranges from 900 to about 3,500 pesos to those who do not comply
with the provisions and 36 hours of arrest may be applied at the Center. of
Municipal Retention, popularly known as El Torito.
