CDMÉXICO. - Without specifying a date, the Secretary
of Health of Mexico City, Oliva López, reported that the agreement concluded
with a delegation of Cuban doctors who had been paid 135 million pesos for
their services.
"This was a support to cover all the activities
that the agreement included, which were, as I have already pointed out on other
occasions, training, research, sharing protocols, good practices,
epidemiological field monitoring and also a set of activities, let's say, of
technical advice. So, these 135 million pesos was what was considered for the
agreement that includes all these activities, also direct care, and the 585
Cuban doctors participated, ”he explained.
When questioned regarding the criticism generated by
the presence of these doctors, the capital official assured that the doctors
helped strengthen the actions carried out in the capital's hospitals to fight
against SARS-CoV-2.
“It wasn't just these doctors, not just these health
personnel, the city has hired more than 2,000 health workers to strengthen
their response capacity, and many of those workers come from other states, so
these professionals who they incorporated have been very important for care in
the city and we are deeply grateful for their commitment… you know that in the
country and in the city there are not enough specialist doctors and therefore,
the calls are open and we continue to hire health personnel ” he stated.
Finally, she did not rule out the possibility that the
agreement with Cuban doctors could be renewed and thanked the work they carried
out in this city, just as she said, health workers in Mexico do to win the battle
to Covid-19.
