The corpses were located by professional divers Johan Saksson, Kim Davidson and Jeff Clarktras, who entered the cenote. Two hours later confirming the discovery of the Germans at a distance of about 1,200 meters away from the entrance of the waterhole.

The German divers identified as Gerd August klumper and Andreas, were reported dead this Thursday after foreigners dived in the "Cenote Kalimba", located about eight kilometers west of this city on the Tulum-Cobá state highway.

The Attorney General of the State investigate the deaths and the responsibility of the owner of the place, Armando García Hernández, who does not have permits or included this place in the census of cenotes. As long as the observations are not solved, the place will remain closed.

"The Cenote Kalimba operated illegally, the owner did not have registration and operating permits from the City Council," the official said in a statement. "President Víctor Mas has told us that security is paramount, he is worried because he does not want more improvisations and situations that put people at risk. We have implemented actions with specialized and certified personnel to avoid putting bathers and divers at risk "

The two foreigners arrived from Playa del Carmen and, despite not knowing the conditions of the underground rivers, they were allowed to enter this cenote by its owner, with fatal consequences.
